San Lorenzo Valley Chamber Launching Smartphone Apps to Boost Local Businesses

phone appThe San Lorenzo Valley Chamber of Commerce is set to introduce free smartphone applications as part of its Shop Local, Shop SLV First program to boost the local business community. The programs offers real time advertising to get local businesses noticed immediately to consumers on the go.

Customers will be able to search directory listings for local businesses by category or deal on their smartphone. Online browsing is also an option—either on the Chamber’s website or on participating members’ websites. The applications are free to businesses and consumers with fee–based upgrades available to local businesses depending upon level of involvement.

Ad publishing applications offer a quick way for consumers to find San Lorenzo Valley companies that are offering deals to local residents and visitors. They also provide a convenient way for users to get addresses, phone numbers, websites and reviews for participating local companies.

“We understand that technology provides consumers with a greater array of choices,” said Thomas Wynn, president of the SLV Chamber. “We want local businesses to be able to present their offerings directly and electronically to locals so that more of that consumer revenue stays in the San Lorenzo Valley.”

The smartphone application opportunities come during a time of economic challenge to many businesses. Marketing Director Mary Andersen said that the applications could offer a needed boost to the retail and services community throughout the year.

Chamber officials will begin contacting San Lorenzo Valley businesses to participate in the programs.
