Rotary Club of San Lorenzo Valley is a service organization and local chapter of the Rotary International global network. The club focuses on community service projects, fostering connections, and supporting initiatives in the San Lorenzo Valley area, such as sponsoring scholarships and volunteering for local projects.
In general, the group meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday evenings of the month at 7pm at Scopazzi's restaurant in Boulder Creek; and the 1st and 3rd Wednesday mornings each month at 8am at the SLV Unified School District Office Multi-Purpose Room at 325 Marion Ave, Ben Lomond. There are exceptions in the months with major holidays - Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year's & Fourth-of-July, so be sure to check the Club meeting calendar. There is usually an informal social time amongst members and guests for 20 to 30 minutes before the bell.
Upcoming speakers include:
Thursday, May 15, 7pm Scopazzi's, Speaker Ross Gibson, Santa Cruz Historian
Wednesday May 21, 8am SLVUSD Offices, Speaker Felicia von Stolk, Executive Director of the Santa Cruz Museum
Thursday, May 29, 7pm Scopazzi's, Speaker Ron Sekkel, Who was Arch Klumpf?
A highlight of SLV Rotary’s activities is its newly launched Spring Feeding Initiative, designed to support Valley Churches United, the Ben Lomond-based nonprofit serving low-income residents in San Lorenzo Valley, Scotts Valley, and Bonny Doon. VCUM, which operates a food pantry three days a week relies on community donations to bridge gaps for families facing economic hardship. The Spring Feeding Initiative, running through May 31, aims to stock VCUM’s pantry during a critical period when donations have dwindled.
Want to support the project? Dine out at these local restaurants on the days scheduled in the month of May.
