United Way of Santa Cruz County, a longstanding nonprofit celebrating 85 years of service, sparks community action through giving, advocacy, and volunteering to foster youth success, family financial stability, and overall health in the region.
By investing in innovative programs like United4Youth—which empowers over 600 young people annually through leadership training, mental health support, civic engagement events, and youth-led initiatives—the organization unites schools, nonprofits, and agencies to address pressing challenges like rising living costs and mental health needs.
Complementing these efforts, the 211 helpline connects residents to essential resources for emergency food, shelter, senior care, and tax assistance via the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, while data-driven strategies track progress toward equitable outcomes through the Community Assessment Project. Under new CEO Yvette Lopez Brooks, United Way strengthens collaborations to expand job readiness and wraparound services, ensuring every dollar and volunteer hour drives measurable, sustainable impact for underserved families across Santa Cruz County.
